2 killed in confrontation on Highway 395 in Plumas County, CHP says

Two Nevada residents were killed after a confrontation turned violent along a highway in Plumas County on Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP said around 8:50 a.m. Saturday, two vehicles occupied by multiple people, all from Reno, Nevada, had pulled to the right shoulder along southbound Highway 395 near the Long Valley Agricultural Inspection Station. Officials said a confrontation ensued between the two parties as a CHP officer was conducting a patrol in the area. The confrontation boiled over and a shooting occurred as the CHP officer arrived in the area, officials said. Two people died from their injuries at the scene, CHP said. No other injuries were reported. CHP said all those involved in the shooting have been identified and there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Officials have not announced any arrests in connection with the homicides. The southbound lanes of Highway 395 were closed for some time on Saturday as the homicides were under investigation.
