2 killed, 2 others injured after car slams into parked cars and power pole in North Hollywood

Two people were killed in a crash and two others were hospitalized after their vehicle struck an electrical pole in North Hollywood.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded at 1:43 a.m. Friday to 11615 W. Vanowen St., south of Lemp Avenue.

The silver vehicle was westbound on Vanowen in the center median, then went off the road and struck an electrical pole and several parked cars, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said.

Firefighters used hydraulic tools to extricate victims from the vehicle.

The driver was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital, the LAPD said. A passenger who had been in the back seat of the vehicle died at the scene.

Two other passengers were injured in the crash, according to police. Their conditions were unknown.

The Los Angeles County medical examiner's office later said two fatal cases were associated with the crash. They were not immediately identified.

The cause of the crash was not under investigation.
