2 arrested for deadly shooting of man in Merced, police say

Two men are in custody, accused of shooting and killing a man in August in Merced.

Merced police say just before 9:30 pm on August 18, officers were called to Martin Luther King Jr. Way and 19th Street.

They found 19-year-old Iran Hedrington suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He later died.

Detectives identified Jaryl Slatton and Elijah Garcia as suspects.

Slatton was arrested on September 3 at his home.

Garcia was arrested on September 12 in San Jose.

The investigation remains ongoing.
