
Two people are accused of fatally shooting a person in what the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office is calling a targeted attack.Haley Marie Morris and Samuel Victor Flores are now in the San Joaquin County Jail on a murder charge, the sheriff's office said.On Tuesday, deputies went to East Waterloo Road near Piccoli Road east of Highway 99 in the Stockton area for a report of a shooting and vehicle crash, the sheriff's office said. There, they found a vehicle crashed into the west side of a building, and the driver was with an apparent gunshot wound.Despite giving medical aid, the sheriff's office said the person died at the scene. Details about the victim's age and gender were not released.While investigating, detectives learned the shooting was targeted and that it happened earlier in the parking lot of a nearby gas station, the sheriff's office said. Witnesses told detectives that they saw two people in a silver Chevrolet Malibu with duct tape on the rear driver's side.The sheriff's office said one of the people got out of the vehicle and fired multiple rounds from what appeared to be an AR-style rifle before fleeing. Detectives canvassed the area near Waterloo Road and Highway 99, which led them to the Waterloo Inn.Morris and Flores were found at the inn, and the sheriff's office said deputies took the two into custody. Investigators searched their hotel room and seized the Malibu for evidence. During interviews, they both admitted to being involved in the fatal shooting.Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to call the sheriff's office at 209-468-4400.
