17 shell casings found in West Philadelphia after woman shot in stomach on Walton Avenue: police

Gunfire rang out on the streets of West Philadelphia, leaving a woman in critical condition.

Police rushed to the 5500 block of Walton Avenue around 12:30 a.m. on Monday.

When they arrived, they found a 22-year-old woman shot in the stomach.

There were also 17 spent shell casings littered the street, including rifle rounds.

Police say two different caliber guns were used in the shooting.

Police are trying to determine if this was a shootout or if multiple gunmen were firing in one direction.

Detectives are checking surveillance cameras in the area for potential leads.
