14-year-old Bloomingdale boy accused of leading police on high-speed chase in stolen car: DuPage County state's attorney

A 14-year-old Bloomingdale boy is facing felony charges after a high-speed chase in a stolen car.

The DuPage County state's attorney says the 14-year-old hit 80 miles-an-hour Tuesday night in Bloomingdale.

He allegedly raced through Bloomingdale and Addison before crashing into another car and trying to run away.

Police arrested him.

He and the driver of the other vehicle were treated at a hospital and released, the state's attorney's office said.

The teen was ordered detained until at least his next court appearance Monday.

"While Fleeing and Eluding cases were down almost 7% in DuPage County last year, the number of drivers fleeing from the police remains disturbingly high. If the allegation that a 14 year-old led police on a high speed chase in a stolen car on residential roads is proven true, this minor displayed a complete contempt for the rule of law and public safety," State's Attorney Bob Berlin said.
