One person is dead following a shooting and a crash near the March Air Reserve Base in Riverside County Tuesday morning.
Details about what exactly happened were limited, but it all unfolded around 6:45 a.m. near 2nd and Z streets.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department said it responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon in the area. When deputies responded, CHP personnel told them that there was a two-car crash and both drivers were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
One of those drivers died, and it was later determined that same person had been shot. The base says that person was an American Forces Network employee who may have been heading to work.
Sources confirm the death is being investigated as a possible suicide.
