Police on Friday were investigating the death of a teenager who was shot in his head while visiting a friend at a home in Queens.
NYPD officials said officers responded to a 911 call about a person shot around 10:45 a.m. Thursday inside a house on 108th Avenue near 173rd Street in Jamaica. When they arrived, the officers found 18-year-old Jonathan Adams with a gunshot wound to his head.
First responders took Adams to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police did not make any immediate arrests and did not have a possible description of the shooter, but said they were investigating the incident as a homicide.
Officials said Adams was at the house meeting a friend, and there were at least five other people there when he was shot. He lived about three miles away in Laurelton, the NYPD said.
Adams is the 23rd teen to die from gun violence in New York City so far this year, according to police data compiled by Gothamist. That’s one more than the 22 teens who were fatally shot in the city throughout 2024.
