Chicago man charged after 2 wounded in shooting in Evergreen Park Walmart

A man has been charged in the shooting of two people at an Evergreen Park Walmart on Wednesday night, police said.

Officers responded at about 2:56 p.m. Wednesday to a report of an active shooter at the Walmart at 2500 W. 95th Street.

Officers found two victims, a 23-year-old man with wounds to the leg and a 70-year-old woman who was shot in the foot, police said.

Police said that as the male victim arrived at the store and was walking in, the suspect, 20-year-old Yoseph Barnes of Chicago, got out of a vehicle and chased after the victim while shooting.

Witnesses told police the suspect fled in a gray Hyundai and after a search, the suspect was taken into custody in the 9300-block of Country Club Drive.

Police said Barnes has been charged with attempted murder and is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
